I’m not too sure if this has any use but what it does is filter out all the noise of the depth sensor and give a clearer image. This could lead to better tracking in general or serve no purpose. LINK

where do you see most of depth ?
with kinect 360 i can see it about 3 meters.
i will do something adaptative but it will be by cost of reaction speed.

I can see it around 2.5 meters. If it does cost response time issues could you make a button to enable or disable?

just to clarify, is it for colour tracking?

I think this is for the depth sensor. I’d suggest a median 3X3 filter followed by an averaging 3×3 filter. You can also try a 5×5 filter, but I wouldn’t go beyond that given the resolution of the image output.

This is done to remove noise from the data and fill in ‘holes’ where dept information is missing.
