kinect v1 flashing green light and not detected

when I plugged in my kinect V1 (360) and installed all the drivers for it, the light on the front kept flashing. This is fine, using the kinect SDK I tested it and verified it was tracking almost 100% accurately, with the only problems being when I wasn’t 100% in view of it, it would send my skeleton onto the nearest human-looking object, usually an object of clothing. Didn’t care about this. However, whenever I go into the config for Driver4VR to set up gestures and stuff for tracking without controllers, it tells me that the kinect isn’t running. Anyone know what to do about this? Thanks?

just for an after comment
at some random point, the headset began tracking correctly. The two controllers however appear absolutely miles away and still will not accept hand gesture inputs.
my kinects light is still flashing.
