Kinect Head Tracking INFRARED IR

I’m sorry if this topic has already been resolved.

I can’t find a clear answer about this choice.

What does KINECT INFRARE (IR) mean for head tracking? (Look at the picture).

I have a Pimax 5K +, so can I track the position of my head using the IR sensors of my Pimax?

If yes, I would have another question: unfortunately after breaking the body of my Pimax for install a Confort Kit, I tried to repair the headset and covered the breaks with handmade plates, I am attaching the images. Unfortunately, only later did I realize that I covered some IR sensors. Could it also work with some covered sensors?
