controllers wont work in steamvr game

When i try to play a game, the controllers wont show up. In steam home they appear, but are not in front of me, but to the left front of me. How do i fix this, i want the controllers in a natural position and work in games?

are you using kinect of virtual trackers?
if virtual trackers then there is always button that reset orientation.
